Denny has worn many hats, not all necessarily well . . . Husband, father, son, teacher, coach, small group leader and business man. Most recently though, a new hat, that of grandfather.
His passion is Men’s Ministry and currently serves area churches throughout San Diego, California where he resides.
He makes clear what the Bible states regarding the significance of men, at all the stages of manhood, and the role God has entrusted to them. He demonstrates the relevance of God’s word to the everyday life of men, while acknowledging the call of God for each man to step up, learn to lead, disciple others and establish a line of discipleship. In short, holds the belief that God has called men to leave a legacy of faithfulness to God for future generations. Those who have worked with him are built up, directed to focus on the life of Jesus Christ and are consistently encouraged. He is a strong proponent of men doing life together, and believes that through Christian community men gain clarity of their God given gifts and are emboldened to apply them as men of God throughout their sphere of influence.
Denny’s primary emphasis is on understanding what biblical manhood looks like and learning to implement it. After accepting Jesus Christ at a church revival, he spent the next 38 years talking the talk but not always walking the walk. Even though he attended church once a week, his feet were firmly planted in the world. Career ambitions and success as the world defines it were the primary influencers and drivers in his life. He had all the trappings of success. But, the costs and the consequences of that lifestyle began to mount resulting in complete brokenness, impacting him, his immediate and extended family. He has seen, first hand, the brokenness of standing alone. In his pit of despair God sent a man to lift him up. It was through that mentoring relationship that he recommitted his life to Jesus Christ. As a result he can speak to a wide variety of men in a way few can.
Denny believes every man should seek to have an inner circle of at least three men. First, a Paul, an older experienced man who is willing to build into your life. Second, a Barnabas, a bosom brother, someone who loves you but is not taken in by your charm and to whom you can be accountable. Third, a Timothy, a younger man in whose life you can be investing in. He is personally blessed by a godly mentor, a designated accountability partner and a younger man he invests in weekly. “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
